Shades of Gray

In addition to being a delicious sexy book that swept the country this past summer, shades of gray are also making waves in the world of fashion. From charcoal to pewter and then some, gray is a very underrated neutral that doesn't get nearly as much play as it deserves! As a neutral shade, it can play up or tone down whatever other colors you've got going on, thanks to its tremendous versatility!

Pair it with pastels to get a flirty, feminine look. If darker colors are more your style, dare to go bold with navy blues, hunter greens, even reds! (Be careful with reds- try to stick with colors like burgundy, maroon, garnet, etc) Since gray is a neutral, don't forget you can also choose to go monochromatic with all different grays and then add one bold accessory (statement bag, frilly scarf, even a few strands of beads) in a bright color to accentuate your style with serious drama and a sophisticated edge.

Of course, if you want your other attributes to take center stage, opt for a simple outfit (skinny jeans, boots and a knit top, perhaps?) and feel free to let your hair and makeup take the spotlight. Check out these websites and youtube tutorials for more inspiration and (of course) to be the envy of everyone in the room wherever you go!
